Massage I apprenticed with someone with iron like thumbs and the body of a front row forward. While it was a great introduction, I knew that I wanted to offer something a little different. Once I was working for the spa here in the Bay, I found my groove with slow, deep tissue work that people on the massage table love. While the pressure can still reach firm, I prefer to veer away from that and take the body slowly towards releasing tension. All the same principles and points apply, it's just a different way of getting there.
The bloke question... Setting up a space on my own is quite different to working in a spa and I decided not to offer the massages for men. The gentler way of working has a different affect on the male body and I'd rather not need to negotiate that. It's been a bit of a disappointment for some people referred but unfortunately it is also a question of safety. I would love us all to live in a world where that wasn't a factor, but we don't.
Going mobile... I've been heading out to my clever bloke's mum's each week to massage her for a while. She has also helped me develop the style as the days of punishing firm massages are long over. The relief that these massages give her is a delight to see and it's kind of fun to pack the car with the hot towels and the different massage mediums and see what she needs each week. Being able to do foot scrubs and a little face mask along the way is a bit delicious.
Massages prices 1 hour - $95 90 minutes - $135
Add a foot scrub and face mask - 30 minutes $50
If you want the mobile option it will cost $50 extra within the reasonable boundaries of Napier, Hastings and Havelock North. Gather a few women friends and you can share the travel add on.
